LIT1022/3 Introduction to World Literature

Introduction

Welcome to this research guide for Introduction to World Literature. This guide will help you find resources that you can use for your course project and CRA paper.

This course is designed to cultivate the student's understanding of and appreciation for literature from traditions around the world and from classical works into the modern era. Students will discover several reasons why Christians should read both Christian and mainstream literature. In this course, the authors present the origins of literary traditions, the various types of literature readers may encounter, the elements that identify not only different literary forms (such as fiction, poetry, and drama) but also the subgenres of those forms, and how understanding the elements of literature will deepen both the reading and understanding of God's Word and the Christian life experience. The authors use many examples from world literature to present effective methods for seeing the elements of good literature at work.

Global University does not necessarily agree with all the views represented in the resources in this guide. These are provided for the student to contrast and compare with the Biblical text and ideas presented in the Global University IST.
