MIS4102/3 Cross-Cultural Counseling

Welcome!

Welcome to this research guide for Cross-Cultural Counseling. This guide will help you find resources that you can use for your course project and CRA paper.

This course provides a biblical perspective on cross-cultural relationships. It is designed to help students understand cultural differences and to identify biblically appropriate ways to respond to these differences. Students will be challenged to become aware of their personal cultural programming and how that programming can inhibit understanding of those different from themselves. The course provides knowledge about several racial minority groups living in close proximity to the majority culture as well as some self-identified minority group cultures.
The goals of the course are to raise awareness of cultural differences, to provide students with knowledge and appropriate skills for effective ministry across cultural barriers, and to promote the unity of the body of Christ. These skills include working for racial reconciliation between estranged groups and working with the poor and marginalized. The need to develop skills to address social injustices and inequality from a biblical worldview is also presented.

Global University does not necessarily agree with all the views represented in the resources in this guide. These are provided for the student to contrast and compare with the Biblical text and ideas presented in the Global University IST.
