Instead, everything African was dismissively tagged fetish, Satanic, barbaric and diabolical, and as such, unworthy to be around the sanctuary.

Songs of exile and faith The article presents a profile of the Christian community of the Dinka people in South Sudan as of 2014. Details are given describing the history of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan, noting its connection to British Anglicanism since the early 1900s. Accounts are given describing the refugee status of many in the Dinka community and its influence on the growth of Christianity within the population. The musical tradition of the community is also particularly highlighted.
Toward a discipline of Christian ethnomusicology: a missiological paradigm This article proposes a discipline of Christian ethnomusicology that locates it within the four arenas of a missiological paradigm: the mission context, the biblical text, the personal pilgrimage, and the faith community. The case of a new song workshop in West Africa among the Senufo is used to argue for the entry of Christian ethnomusicology into the guild of missiology as a full-fledged partner.
